Economic Opportunity Radar
Where employers are actually expanding: companies, sites, projects and vacancies with evidence and dates checked. This is not a news feed.
Radar records are not connected yet
The pilot needs limited manual collection in a narrow geography: each record with a link to the primary source and a date checked. There are no sources, licenses or records yet, so there is not a single made-up company or figure here. An automatic employment summary from general Census flows cannot say where a specific employer's workers live, and it is not used.
Companies
no recordsA legal entity or employer brand. Not the same as a site: one company can have several sites in different places.
Record fields: name, registry identifier, industry, link to the primary source.
There are no records of this type in the dataset. That does not mean there are none in the real world.
Counting rules
- A company, a site and a project are different entities.
- Existing employment, announced hiring, temporary construction and vacancies are not added into a “total jobs” figure.
- A project's stage advances only on evidence; pauses and cancellations are kept in the history.
- Housing near a site does not show where that employer's workers live.
- Hiring plans are not presented as open vacancies.
What is needed to launch
- Choose a pilot territory and a list of industries.
- Collect records manually with verifiable links (permit registries, reporting, employer pages).
- Check the terms of use of each source.
- The deduplication and counting rules are already built in and covered by tests (
app/lib/radar.ts).
